In celebration of the Canada Packers Reunion taking place August 11, 2018 and the history of York Ice Cream production in Harriston, the Minto Cultural Roundtable and the Harriston Downtown Revitalization Committee have teamed up to launch an outdoor public art exhibit titled “Cool Cones”.
“Cool Cones” will see 10 artists adding their art and craftwork to a three dimensional metal and urethane spray foam ice cream cone sculpture to create unique works of art. The base sculpture has been created by Minto’s very own Andy Pridham from “Weathered”. The “Cool Cones” will be on display from June 2, 2018 – October 26, 2018.
“The Harriston Downtown Revitalization Committee has been working on this idea for a couple years now in an effort to stop traffic in the downtown core” said Manager of Economic Development Belinda Wick-Graham. A special event unveiled the “Cool Cones” on June 2nd and now the public is invited to vote on the “People’s Choice” cone from June 2nd – August 11th when the winning artist will be recognized at the Harriston Street Dance!
